Building Narratives Through Data
Dear Patrons,

The Government of India presented the Union Budget 2021 in February. The budget came at an important juncture for the Indian economy. Covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns worsened an already precarious economic situation and sent the country into recession. Bhaskar Dutta evaluated the budget for CEDA and found that it did not merit more than a passing grade.

At the beginning of February, India's slowing down Covid-19 numbers were being talked about around the world. One of the reasons given for this slowdown in new cases was lower levels of testing. Ankur Bhardwaj and Vibhav Khandelwal took a closer look at testing data for CEDA.

The CEDA-CMIE Bulletin this month showed how badly Covid-19 lockdown hurt total household and individual wage incomes, especially in the first month of lockdown.

This newsletter brings a glimpse of our work in the month gone by, both on the CEDA Website and in media in general. We look forward to your continued support.
